Born in the humble village of Mela Sekkarakudi in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi district, Selva Kumar — now known as *Selva Singh — has become a symbol of resistance, a voice for the voiceless, and a pillar of Bahujan Dravidian power.*
Raised in a land where educational opportunity was scarce and caste discrimination was deeply rooted, Selva was born into a Scheduled Caste community. *He experienced firsthand the brutality of the Hindu Varnashrama system, but he didn’t surrender.* He resisted. He rose. He rejected caste with courage.
*Breaking Caste, Embracing Equality*
*He rejected Hinduism and embraced the Sikh philosophy, rooted in casteless equality and dignity.* Through Sikhi, he found confidence, self-respect, and identity. He was no longer just another oppressed youth — he became a beacon of hope for the oppressed.
After studying in a local government school, Selva pursued engineering at Anna University, Tamil Nadu. Initially aspiring for a government job, he joined the “Naam Tamilar” party. But disillusioned by its glorification of caste through clan pride and caste identity, he walked away.
*His true political awakening came under the leadership of Sardar Jeevan Singh, National President of the Bahujan Dravida Party (BDP). Inspired by the revolutionary vision of Thanthai Periyar and Bahujan Nayak Kanshiram, Selva Singh committed himself to social transformation, economic emancipation, and representation of the marginalized.*
Today, he serves as the Tamil Nadu State Spokesperson of the Bahujan Dravida Party, *spreading the message of Bahujan unity, self-respect, and Sikhi Philosophy and its history across Tamil Nadu.*
While serving at the BDP headquarters in Delhi, Selva pursued a law degree, balancing activism and academic excellence. *A compassionate Sikh family, especially Mr. Tejinder Singh Ji, stood by his side with shelter, food, and support throughout his journey.*
He is now a registered advocate with the Delhi Bar Association, practicing at the Supreme Court of India..
*His presence in court is more than a personal success — it is a collective triumph for the historically oppressed.*
Under the continued mentorship of Sardar Jeevan Singh, Selva Singh now marches forward with a burning goal:
*To enter the Indian Parliament — not for power, but to be the voice of the voiceless, and to carry forward the unfulfilled dreams of Periyar and Kanshiram.*
*His life is a living testimony:*
Oppression can never silence the truth.
Even one man can spark a revolution.
*From dusty village paths to the Supreme Court, and soon to Parliament — his journey is the people’s journey.*
