Floods had damaged the old building; Sikh Sangat from Doaba takes up the service of reconstruction
Sri Amritsar-The Officiating Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj, today laid the foundation stone for the new building of Gurdwara Sahib at Kamirpura village, located in the Ajnala border area of Amritsar district. The earlier building of the shrine was damaged during the recent floods. The reconstruction service has been undertaken by the Sikh Sangat from the Doaba region, particularly from Nawanshahr district, both in country and abroad.
Accepting their invitation, Jathedar Gargajj personally offered the Ardas (Sikh prayer) and inaugurated the reconstruction by laying the foundation stone. Kamirpura village comprises around 40 Sikh families devoted to the Guru’s house, but the damage caused by floods had created difficulties for the local Sangat.
Before laying the foundation stone, the Granthi Singh of the Gurdwara Sahib prepared Karha Prashad, and following the recitation of Anand Sahib, Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj performed the Ardas and ceremonially began the service.
Addressing the gathering, Jathedar Gargajj said that for Sikhs, a Gurdwara Sahib is not only a sacred place to connect with Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and express their devotion but also serves as a centre for reflection and collective discussion about the community’s future. “Wherever Sikhs live across the world, they establish Gurdwaras and unite around them,” he said.
Referring to Kamirpura village situated on the banks of the Ravi River along the border, he mentioned that the Gurdwara Sahib here was damaged in the floods. “Today, with the blessings of Guru Sahib and the cooperation of the Doaba Sangat, the service to build a new structure has commenced,” the Jathedar added.
He congratulated the residents of the village and the local Sangat on this occasion and appreciated the initiative taken by the Sikh Sangat of Doaba for their devotion and service.
Those present included Sikh devotees associated with Gurdwara Sri Naabh Kanwal Raja Sahib in Doaba region, Surjit Singh (President, Ballowal), Baba Balwant Singh (Bhromjara), Raghvir Singh (Mannanhana), Surjit Singh, Amrik Singh (Ballowal), Personal Assistant Baldev Singh, Media Advisor Jaskaran Singh, Sudagar Singh, Joginder Singh, Chuhar Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Sh Sodhi Lal, Ajit Singh, Teerath Singh, Gurvinder Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Manjinder Singh, Dhanpat Rai, and Sh Sandeep Kumar, among others.
