Punjab Cabinet Minister, representatives of DSGMC and CKD appear at Secretariat Sri Akal Takht Sahib

Sri Amritsar-At the Secretariat Sri Akal Takht Sahib, today, in connection with various ongoing matters, Punjab Government Cabinet Minister S. Tarunpreet Singh Sondh, certain members and office-bearers of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), and the President, Honorary Secretary and some members of the Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) appeared with their respective clarifications before the Acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj, and the Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Giani Tek Singh. The matters related to them were heard and deliberated upon one by one.

Providing information in this regard, in-charge of the Secretariat Sri Akal Takht Sahib Bagicha Singh stated that an explanation had been sought from Punjab Cabinet Minister S. Tarunpreet Singh Sondh regarding the depiction in certain images prepared at the memorial of Bhai Jeevan Singh (Bhai Jaita Ji) at Sri Anandpur Sahib, which were alleged to be contrary to Sikh principles, maryada (code of conduct) and sentiments. The minister submitted his clarification to the Jathedar today. In this regard, Minister Sondh acknowledged that the shortcomings that had occurred have been rectified in accordance with Sikh sentiments, while some work is still in progress. It was further stated that Jathedar Gargajj advised Minister Sondh that the Director of the Department of Culture and Tourism, Punjab, should be a person who has an understanding of concerns, traditions and culture of Sikh community and Punjab. The minister assured that, after speaking with the government, a suitable appointment would be made.

S. Bagicha Singh stated that the DSGMC had convened a special general meeting on October 25, 2025, in violation of the orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. In this connection, the President, General Secretary, Senior Vice President, Vice President and Secretary of DSGMC had been summoned to present their position. However, due to certain reasons, all the summoned representatives of the DSGMC could not appear. Consequently, the submissions of the officials and members who were present were not taken for the time being, and further time has been granted to them. He said that from the DSGMC, Atma Singh (Vice President), Jasmain Singh (Secretary), and executive members Bhupinder Singh, Raminder Singh, Harjit Singh, and Manjit Singh were present.

Bagicha Singh further stated that, in light of an order issued earlier by Sri Akal Takht Sahib, information had also been sought from the CKD regarding which of its members are Amritdhari and which are not. In this connection, the President of the CKD, Inderbir Singh Nijjar, along with Honorary Secretary Ramnik Singh and members Prof. Sukhbir Singh and Bhai Mahinder Singh, appeared and provided the required information. Granting additional time, Jathedar Gargajj advised the President of the CKD to motivate all members of the institution and ensure that they become Amritdhari so that the constitution is duly complied with.
