Tribute and Chuphera Sahib Ceremony in Birmingham Dedicated to the Martyrs of the November 1984 Delhi Sikh Massacre

Birmingham-A solemn Tribute and Chuphera Sahib Ceremony was held at Gurdwara Baba Deep Singh Ji Shaheed, Oakland Road, Handsworth, Birmingham (U.K.), in remembrance of the martyrs of the November 1984 Delhi Sikh Massacre. The event was organized under the leadership of the Gurdwara Trustees, S. Hardeep Singh and S. Maninder Singh.

On this deeply reverent occasion, Giani Raghbir Singh Ji, Head Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib (Sri Darbar Sahib), Amritsar, graced the ceremony with his presence. A large number of devotees from Birmingham and surrounding areas attended to pay their heartfelt respects.

During the program, tributes were offered to the thousands of innocent Sikhs — men, women, children, and elders — who were brutally killed in Delhi and other cities across India during the November 1984 violence carried out under the then Congress-led government. A special Ardas (prayer) was performed in memory of the martyrs.

As part of the Chuphera Sahib program, Gurbani recitations were conducted by members of the congregation at Gurdwara Baba Deep Singh Ji. The ceremony concluded with the Hukamnama (Divine Command) read by Singh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh Ji.

Also present on this occasion were Bhai Gurpreet Singh, Manager of the Gurdwara Sahib, and Bhai Jatinder Singh (Patiala), the resident Granthi, along with a large gathering of the Sikh Sangat.
