Flex Boards Installed Outside Gurdwara Sahiban by the Shiromani Committee to Apprise the Sangat of Panthic Objections Regarding the Satkar Act

Amritsar-In accordance with the directives of the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has installed informative flex boards outside various Gurdwara Sahiban to make the Sangat aware of the shortcomings and Panthic objections concerning The Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026 passed by the Punjab Government.
These boards contain information about the act made by the government, through the word custodian, making the servants of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Granthi and Akhandpathi Singhs, Gurdwara committees and devotees conducting Sri Akhand Path Sahib responsible for cases of sacrilege or violation of Maryada and bringing them under the ambit of punishment and fines, creating fear among the Sangat by bringing violation of Maryada under the ambit of charges as a legal violation, paving the way for the police to directly interfere in Gurdwaras, changing Panthic terminology and not defining the terminology related to service maintenance and places according to Sikh sentiments.
Providing information in this regard, SGPC Chief Secretary S. Kulwant Singh Mannan stated that this is an extremely serious issue connected with the sentiments of the Sikh Panth. He said that Sikh scholars and intellectuals have raised grave objections to the Act passed by the Punjab Government, and it is essential that the Sangat be made aware of these serious concerns. Keeping this in view, these boards have been installed.
He further stated that matters concerning the beadbi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji are highly sensitive for the Sikh community, and any legislation framed in this regard must be in accordance with Panthic sentiments, Gurmat principles, and the guidance of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
He appealed to the entire Sangat to remain aware regarding this matter and to unite under the leadership of Sri Akal Takht Sahib for the protection of Panthic unity and principles.
